ChargeWorks Joins the B Corp Movement
We provide our clients with the right level of support to decarbonise their homes, businesses and communities. This is what we do. From the get-go, we have committed to do this in a way that meets the highest standards of performance, accountability and transparency. ChargeWorks is built on the idea that things can be better, and so have chosen to join the B Corp movement to challenge us to demonstrate how we serve all our stakeholders.
What is a B Corp?
It is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials. In order to achieve certification, a company must:
- Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing our risk review. Multinational corporations must also meet baseline requirement standards.
- Make a legal commitment by changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders, and achieve benefit corporation status if available in their jurisdiction.
- Exhibit transparency by allowing information about their performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
More information can be found on the B Corp website.
The verification process is administered by the nonprofit B Lab which measures a company’s social and environmental performance. To become a Certified B Corporation, companies undergo a rigorous review of the impact of their operations and business model on their workers, customers, communities and environment, and must meet a minimum verified score on the B Impact Assessment.
ChargeWorks aims to become fully certified in 12 months’ time and will be joining a network of over 4,000 B Corps in 70 countries and 150 industries worldwide.
